The LFGW engages in community-based participatory research to increase public knowledge of issues that affect the Latino community of Greater Washington. Our work brings visibility to our community's capacities, strengths, and challenges. The LFGW's research and policy department also impacts research agendas of concern to Latinos, as well as local and federal domestic policies that affect our community, and increases public and private institutions responsiveness and accountability to Latinos living in Greater DC.
Working with member agencies, the community, and other partners, LFGW utilizes its research findings to frame policy alternatives and recommendations that are presented by LFGW advocates or by allies, to local and federal policymakers, and to other relevant institutions and individuals. These policy alternatives and recommendations address issues affecting the wellbeing of Latinos in Greater DC in areas such as health, education, youth and children, and housing. The policy work pursued by the LFGW's research and policy department also draws inspiration from past studies conducted by its predecessor, The Council of Latino Agencies (CLA)*
